Harlesden High Street

bpr architects worked with Jenga Ltd to redevelop these existing Victorian buildings into one, two and three bedroom flats totalling 18 apartments, both with retail outlets on the ground floor street entrances. The first phase, at 34 Harlesden High Street was managed by bpr under full contract administration. The second phase 38-40 Harlesden High Street was a design and build contract with Kamm Construction acting as the main contractor on both phases.

The challenge at 34 Harlesden High Street was to maximise the properties apartment capacity in size and number whilst maintaining the original building façade and as much of the original building fabric behind as possible to help towards the compliance of the ‘Very Good’ Eco Homes rating.

38-40 Harlesden High Street demanded a differing set of challenges where the narrow site is tightly bound on either side with existing properties; requiring careful planning to ensure rooms within remained bright. The new front façade had to blend seamlessly with the Victorian character along the street scene.
