living wall features in bbc series ‘so i can breathe’
several external walls on the bpr architects designed ritterman building, are covered in thousands of plants that capture, store and recycle rainwater. alongside green walls, ritterman features a bio-diverse green living roof, solar panels and energy-efficient lighting controls.
in the bbc series, middlesex university's senior lecturer - dr wildeboer explains:
“the installation of green walls on existing buildings and incorporation of living structures into new buildings, provides an innovative solution to urban greening. research shows that green walls reduce harmful air pollutants, nitrogen dioxide (no2) particulate matter (pm10), levels of which are frequently exceeded in london and other cities.”
