bpr architects were appointed by Network Rail Property to prepare designs for the refurbishment of an existing 1930’s grade II listed art deco building, which is part of Leeds City railway station and adjacent to the historic ‘Queens Hotel’. The proposals include a refurbishment of the external envelope and internal remodeling works to provide high quality commercial office accommodation.  Significant consultation with Leeds City Council planning department and Network Rail planners has been carried out to ensure the proposals were historically compatible with the existing building. The existing steel windows have been replaced with new double glazed steel windows throughout, which match the existing frame profiles and provide enhanced thermal performance.

A new primary entrance has been formed through an existing window off the concourse rotunda to replicate the original 1930’s style entrances seen throughout the station.
