ASHTEAD and HASSOCKS STATIONS

BPR architects, working as a sub-consultant to SKM has been appointed by Southern Railway to designtwo new modular station buildings at ashtead and Hassocks under the National Station Improvement Programme (NSIP).
The proposals include the demolition of the existing 1970's pre-fabricated 'Clasp' buildings and replacing them with new modular station buildings, which are based on Network Rail's modular station design.

BPR have assisted Southern Rail in managing the community consultation process for the projects,
which has involved representing the aspirations of the stakeholders.

Mid Sussex District Council stated: “ The design can overall be commended for its simple elegance, crisp lines, disciplined order and openness. The additional height will also contribute to giving the station more grandeur and it will fi t in much better to its surrounds.“
