BPR are honoured to have been invited by Stantec and Taziker to support them with architectural services for the refurbishment of a number of Grade I listed heritage assets at Bristol Temple Meads as part of Network Rail's CP6 Delivery Plan.
The project includes the upgrade of the historic main train shed, with new glazing bars and polycarbonate glazing to uplift the aesthetics of the building, improve the design life of this important heritage asset, and to enable an abundance of daylight into the platforms below, where currently it is lacking due to the poor condition of the existing fabric of the roof.
The scope also involves upgrading the historic platform canopies with new glazing across the wider station, and the redecoration of existing canopy metalwork and timber valances to provide a refreshed and contemproary look to the historic railway station.
