NETWORK RAIL'S OUR PRINCIPLES OF GOOD DESIGN

Network Rail has demonstrated a renewed commitment to Good design through the publication of their Principles of Good Design. This is supported by their updated Form 4 submission that must now include a Design Principles Statement that details how the design responds to each of the 9 principles.

Our vision is for Network Rail Central to become the heartbeat of our nation’s transport system, which will be felt in every corner of our network through a consistent approach to high quality design for all works to their estate.

BPR Architects supported Network Rail in the creation of these principles. The Heartbeat expresses how Network Rails influence reaches across the whole network, established through 9 Principles of Good Design which aim to ensure that a strong design culture is embedded into the requirements for anyone investing in rail assets.

Heartbeat has full support from Sir Peter Hendy who launched the new principles at a major event at London Bridge in March 2019.
