SUSSEX ROUTE AFA SCHEMES

BPR were invited by AECOM on behalf of Network Rail to support them with architectural services for a number of Access for All (AfA) schemes on the Sussex Route. The scheme, which was funded by the Department for Transport, sought to provide step free access at the Carshalton Station, Coulsdon South Station, and Selhurst Station, thereby delivering a safer, accessible and more inclusive station environment for all.

The project involved the preparation of designs for new footbridges, stairs and lifts and BPR designed the brick elements of the buildings with graduated brickwork to add surprise and delight to the stations. The scheme was developed to FORM D level by BPR and delivered on site by Bam Nuttall.
