STONE X STADIUM: LONDON SPORT INSTITUTE

Stone X Stadium is a new specialist-built stadium for Saracens Rugby Football Club located in the heart of Barnet. The scheme is split over four floors, with the internal area shared between Saracens and Middlesex University.

London Sports Institue form one of the key stakeholders on the project. Their location on the site enables MU's students to work in close-proximity to some of London's best athletes. Internally, the building design has been developed to accommodate state of the art training labs for stength & conditioning; biomechanics; physiology amoungst other more general teaching facilites.

This project brings together two world class organisations, Middlesex University and Saracens, to create a building which supports their mutual interest and add value to the use of the building. BPR Architects helped to facilitate discussions regarding the use of the space to take advantage of potential for mutual benefits.

State of the Art

The main training labs all have been designed to meet the specalist requirements of the altheles using the spaces. Key features include rigging to support cameras to capture activities and careful consideration of specalist flooring and equipment.

Inspirational Design

Designed as a simulator, the building enables the University's students to collaborate with, and work alongside some of London's top athletes ensuring that the University's action-oriented approach to learning underpins the ethos of the new facility.
